| The Part Name column on the B/M is sometimes called simply "name" or "description" in commercial blueprints. In aerospace/military blueprints, this column is usually labeled "nomenclature" or "description". If the part has a blueprint number, the name will be the name or title of the blueprint(figure 1) | ||||||||||||||||||

| If the part number is a catalog number of manufacturers part, the name will usually be a brief form of the catalog description. (figure 2) | ||||||||||||||||||

| If the part is a commonly available standard item then the part number block may be left blank on the B/M, but the description block will contain information fully sufficient to describe it (figure 3) | ||||||||||||||||||
